Your election is just weeks away and there is lots to do. We get it, fundraising is not on the top of your to-do list. So let us help you with a few tips and a sample letter you can use as a template when drafting your final fundraising letter.
Say thank you. Your lowest hanging fruit are those already involved in your campaign – your previous donors, volunteers, event attendees, and activists. Make sure you acknowledge and thank them for what they have already done.
Ask for something specific. Donors are always more likely to contribute when they understand their impact. Frame your ask in the context of something specific your campaign needs.
Create urgency. You literally are days away from the end of your race. Make sure the donor knows that now is the time to give.
Talk about the future. Donors invest in the future and what change you are going to bring. Keep your eye on what you’ll do if you’re elected, not your past.

I am going to keep this short and sweet.
This is the last fundraising letter you will receive from me, I promise…. And I will tell you what…. If you make a contribution today and we win this election, here is what else I can promise you.
I promise that I will put [DISTRICT] first. That I will be your voice on [ISSUE FROM YOUR CAMPAIGN].
I will work hard to bolster [ANOTHER ISSUE] and fight to represent you on [THIRD ISSUE].
Every day, I will work for people like you, not special interest and lobbyists. But to do this, I need to ask for your help one last time.
With days left before the election, my campaign is raising funds for one final [ITEM SUCH AS A MAILER, AD, OR ONLINE PUSH]. We need to just $[AMOUNT] to hit this goal. We know this election is going to be close, and turnout is expected to be high. We’ve come too far to not make sure we do everything we can to ensure we win this race.
You have stood with me through thick and thin. It is with your support that we have raised more money, worked harder, and run one of the smartest campaigns in [DISTRICT]’s history. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Today, you have the opportunity to help put us over the top and win this race.
I am asking you one last time – don’t stop short of the finish line. Help us win this election by making one final contribution of $[AMOUNT] today.
